Kitchens Remodel
The kitchen is the focal point of most homes, the hub, and the center. This is an area where your family and friends congregate to spend time together. If it has come time to have a new feel/look in your kitchen, you will have an inordinate amount of options and styles to choose from.
Styles
Whether or not your kitchen needs a small facelift or needs to be completely rehabbed, it is important to understand the amount of factors that go into it. There are so many stories of people planning on just replacing their cabinets but not realizing that after they do, the cabinets do not go well with the counters or appliances thus causing a simple job into a complete kitchen rehab. There are so many different brands, styles, etc… that come into play when you design a kitchen you will eventually become overwhelmed. A good place to start is the style you would like to go with your kitchen remodel. A few different styles are:
- Traditional
- Modern
- Contemporary
Depending on whether you’re doing just a facelift or complete kitchen remodel, these styles will come into play. If you’re just doing a facelift, make sure to keep the same as your current kitchen (unless you plan on redoing your entire kitchen over time).
Choosing a Contractor
After you have chosen your style for complete kitchen remodels, it is now time to begin choosing a contractor. This is probably the most important step because you must have a good relationship/understanding with your contractor. The contractor must see your vision in terms of the end result. Make sure to ask for several references prior to actually hiring a contractor and it is even better to secure at least three separate contractor bids. When meeting with the contractors, be sure to ask for their expert advice regarding the upcoming project. This is something they do for a living so listen to the suggestions; this can be the deciding factor when choosing a contractor.
Picking your Appliances
After you have chosen a contractor, it is now time to choose your appliances, cabinets, countertops, etc… for your kitchen remodel. The smallest appliance can inspire an entire theme about your kitchen whether it’s just a faucet or a fridge. Choosing your appliances is probably the most exciting part of the kitchen remodel process but can also be frustrating. Always be open to suggestions from anyone willing to offer, you never know what kind of ideas someone may have that could blend extremely well with your vision.
